Then comes the fun part: the meteor handle, designed to look like it just slammed into the Moon, leaving a cosmic trail behind. And because space is full of surprises, we added another comet impact on the lid, because why not? These meteoric details are individually sculpted and attached before firing, ensuring every mug is slightly different—just like no two moons are exactly alike.
Beyond its cosmic looks, this mug is fully functional, with a comfortable grip, heat-resistant ceramic glaze, and a smooth interior. It's perfect for your morning coffee, tea, or even an out-of-this-world hot chocolate.
Handmade with Cosmic Precision
Each Lunar Impact Mug is crafted through a meticulous ceramic-making process that blends traditional artistry with technical expertise. Once the original design is sculpted, a plaster ceramic mold is created to preserve its fine details. Using liquid ceramic casting, multiple high-quality reproductions are formed, each remaining faithful to the original handmade model.
The mug undergoes two firings at 980°C to achieve its final form:
- First Firing – Transforms raw clay into a ceramic biscuit, providing a solid yet porous surface that absorbs glaze evenly.
- Second Firing – Follows the application of ceramic glazes, enhancing the depth, luminosity, and durability of the piece.
To highlight the lunar relief, each mug is hand-colored using a sponge-stippling technique, where darker shades settle into the carved craters, creating a striking light and shadow effect. Because of this artisanal process, no two mugs are exactly the same—each one is a one-of-a-kind creation, as unique as the Moon itself.
